Instrument Description:

YY108D Pneumatic Tear Tester is designed to measure the force required to tear a certain number of pre-notched sheets, such as paper, plastic films, polymer materials, and non-woven fabrics. The instrument adopts an optical encoder to measure the angular position of the pendulum during tearing and converts this measured value into tearing units. It is suitable for determining the tearing resistance of various types of paper and can also be used for testing the tear resistance of low-strength sheet-like composite materials such as textiles, leather, and films. It is widely applied in paper mills, scientific research institutions, and quality inspection departments.

Working Principle:

A stack of test samples with specified pre-notches (usually 4 layers) is clamped. The pendulum is lifted to a certain height to accumulate a specific amount of potential energy. When the pendulum swings freely, it uses its stored energy to tear the sample over a fixed distance. The work done in tearing the sample is measured by the loss of potential energy of the pendulum.
