2. The cover is made of a large-area rigid transparent plastic material, with at least one removable plate or door for easy observation and operation.
3. A square hole with a side length of 150mm is used as the light channel, and a gutter is used to help the square hole block falling water.
4. The part of the cover close to the square hole is sprayed with matte black paint to reduce scattering.
5. The nozzle is equipped with an orifice with a diameter of 1.19mm and a properly designed water supply pipe to ensure a stable and uniform conical water column.
6. Calibrate the optical measuring equipment, correct the specular reflection coefficient R’ of the measuring equipment under dry and wet conditions respectively, and determine the correction factor for the change of scattered light between dry and wet conditions (determine the variation of R’ between the two conditions).
7. The instrument can adjust the nozzle and water supply to ensure the entire sample surface is surrounded by water spray. The angle between the water flow impacting the sample surface and the sample surface shall be 10° (not less than 5°) to form a water film on the sample surface. The water flow rate impacting the sample surface shall be equivalent to actual rainfall, with a precipitation rate of 50/tan10°mm/h (284mm/h). Before measurement, keep the water spray in a stable state for at least 2 minutes and maintain a stable water spray state throughout the measurement process.
8. The water flow rate impacting the sample surface is determined as follows: Mark the geometric center of the sample holder and rotate it to the horizontal position. The approximate center of the conical surface of the jet water flow shall coincide with the geometric center of the sample holder. Place the covered collector on the geometric center of the sample holder. Turn on the jet switch, adjust the water pressure of the nozzle to make the jet stable and last for more than 2 minutes. Remove the collector cover and start the timer at the same time, spray water for a period of time (at least 1 minute), then cover the collector immediately. Remove the collector, place it on a horizontal surface and measure the water depth. Calculate the water flow rate according to the water depth and the water spray time.
